Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 121k miles

Oil pressure is running as low as 15-18 psi. When revving engine up to 2800 + range, engine noise picks up a notch - my son tells me it is a clatter or whistling type. I am deaf (70 percent both ears at birth), I have been laid off from work, and I am trying to help him down at his college ito cut repair expenses. He's trying to make it on his own as I am. No sympathy wanted, just a little good Samaritan help from someone to offer to help as I do on Thursday nights at the CARE kitchen in my small town. Anyway, I can repeat the noise when revving up to that rpm range - sitting still or moving. I'd glady donate but I am in a real bind. If no answer provided - understood. Thanks.

Under the drivers side locate the starter visualy. You will see a heat-shield coming off the starter solenoid.
Look to see if there is at least one quarter inch of
clearence between the shield and the exhaust pipe.
If not this maybe causing the noise your hearing. The exhaust is attached to the frame. When the engine
is torqued over under load the exhaust pipe comes in contact with the heat shield and causes a metallic
ratteling noise you can hear in the cab at lower speeds, and sometimes at idle too. I hope this helps
i know where you are coming from money wise.
