Our Chevy S10 started missing about 6 months ago. They told us it was the spark plugs, and we replaced them. It didn't fix the problem. The car will miss while driving, and it will sputter and stall at stop lights. Then we get an engine code. When we do the diagonsis it always comes up that its the Cataletic Converter, and we also get random misfire codes. We have replaced the cat twice as well as the muffler. If the truck sputters you can see the CAT glowing. Now they are saying its the PCM. How do we know what to replace next? All these dead ends cost a fortune. Please help. Before my husband drives this truck off a cliff. :)

I am not good at the computer and related codes, other moderators are far better than me. I come from a old school and what I would do if the vehicle was mine was. Start the vehicle at night, open the hood and see if you can hear or see any shorting of the wires to the spark plugs. If any shorts are found I would replace that wire. I would clear the computer by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then hook it back up. Most of the time this will clear the codes on the computer. One thing is that for the computer to completly reset the vehicle will have to be driven about 50 miles. This does NOT have to be done all at once. Then check for codes.
As I say there are moderators better than me in this subject but its somewhere to start, and does not cost anything to do.

Have you been able to get it fixed? If so what was the final problem? I replaced my fuel filter and did a couple other things to no avail. I am about to take it to the shop but I am a very poor college student/musician and really need to be better prepared financialy if it is going to be and expensive fix. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated!
