Brakes problem 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 70000 miles

I just changed the lower, driver side ball joint on my truck. The axle nut was so tight, I had to use a 3 ft extension on the ratchet to get the nut loose. Then an electric impact gun was enough to run it the rest of the way off. The ball joint replacement went well, and upon re-installation of the axle nut, it went on approximately 1/2" farther than it was before I had started. (I used the impact run to run it on). During a test ride, the ABS system activated while coming to a stop, during the last 10 feet of travel. Neither the ABS, or brake lights light up while this happened. Any suggestions?

Does the wheel turn freely? The abs may have not picked the rotation on the sensor. If the wheel is turning ok and the brakes are working then it should be ok. What botheres me is that you say you ahd to use a 3 foot bar to help take the nut off and that it went back on a half inch further. Did the nut looked stripped? It may be you have the nut too tight and is squeezing the bearings. I would recheck it.
