I changed the transmission on my 97 s-10 and bought a new torque converter. While the truck was on jack stands with all lines, sensors, and transmission fluid I started the truck and all the gears worked. Then I took the truck off the jacks stands but now the truck wont move. Do I have to reset the computer? Or any suggestions?

How many qts of fluid did you put in-also did you check the fluid level. If all okay-there's a problem with the tranny

I put about 6 quarts of fluid but I checked on ALLDATA earlier today and I found out that on overhauled transmissions it needs 11 quarts. It isnt an overhauled transmission but I bought the used transmission from EVERDRIVE. So im thinking it also needs 11 quarts.>> Thanks for the reply

The converter itself holds about 7-9qts not including what's in the fluid pan. You have to gradually fill while the engine is idling and be checking it at all times to make sure the level is on the hot mark-when it reaches the full mark you stop

Today I added more transmission fluid and the car still didnt move. I jacked up the rear and the wheels were spinning with it on PARK. But the driveline wasnt spining. Then I started put it into gear and it only went up to 20 MPH then decreases speed while still on jack stands. Im guessing it is the differential that is the problem. But why does it only go 20 MPH when a few days earlier I tested it while on jack stands and it worked fine. Any suggestions?
