Engine hesitation in 1st and 2nd gear acceleration, but does not always do so. Some days, it never misses a beat.

It has no problem starting quickly. Idles fine. Does not die.

Has new plugs, fuel filter (March, 2009) and no problem for about two months, then slowly started doing it again. New wires (February 2009) but same problem.

Took to another mechanic. He says: #3 and #4 show to be misfiring, But per mechanic, of course when they drove it, the car never cut-out, so they really couldn't come up with anything.

Any ideas?

Gas mileage avgs 19 to 20 which seems about normal.

My first guess would be the crankshaft sensor. However, without a check engine light, I can't be sure. Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Also, have you ever pulled the numbers 3 and 4 spark plugs to see their condition?

Let me know.
