1996 Chevy S-10 can't get back to 2HI from 4HI

I went into 4HI durung a snow storn, when I tried to go back to 2HI the light did not come on or shift back. Is there anything I can do myself.

Did you try shifting to neutral, and then disengaging 4wheel drive?
