1996 Chevy S 10

I have a 1996 S10 with a 2.2 liter engine. 5 speed transmission. The original engine is bad. Can I replace the engine with a newer model 2.2 liter engine or do I have to find one from 1996? I have a chance to buy a 2.2 liter engine from a wrecked 2003 S10 but don't know if it will bolt up or have all the right connections. Thanks BR

As long if it it will bolt to the transmission and the motor mounts fall in place you shouldn't have a problem. You can put just about any motor you want, but you might need to make a few adjustments to make it work.
