1994 Chevy S-10 truck will not start

1994 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

i wrecked my pick up and bent the frame. The frame is fixed but when the acident happed the truck would not go into park or first gear without grinding. We adjusted the linkage and got it to got into park put it shut off. It would only start and run for two seconds and shut off. After a couple tries I seen smoke behind the ingine and the truck would no longer start and run. The smoke may have been electrical. Any suggestion as to whats wroung?

Anytime you see smoke that is not good. get a mirror and check for burnt wire harness or pinched someplace. that area is where it goes to the starter. Howeverthere is fusible links that fry before the rest of it so it may be ok unless it's pinched someplace. i'll send the starting circuit along with this message.
