Vortec engine. Periodically, engine shuts down while driving, usually soon after initial start and drive. It usually doesn't happen during after a successful trip has begun. Happens randomly, sometimes after a short trip, and restart. Sometimes after a cold start. I can pull off for a few minutes and it improves. Let sit overnite and it may run perfectly. During episodes, I can hold pedal down, it will rev to 1500 or so, then lose power completely and shut down. Feels gas-starved. I just changed the "spider", which was leaking. Ran great for three weeks. Now happening again. Have changed fuel filter. Could it be the fuel pump? I can hear it running. Trash in tank clogging pickup? Happens more with low gas.

I had a 95 s10 blazer, It did the same thing, one day went on a short trip. After stopping for something to eat went to start it, would not start had it towed to repair station and found that the fuel pump froze up. Had it replaced and the blazer ran fine.
