I just rebuilt my 89 chevy s10 and was trying to start it when after forgetting to disconnect the battery I removed my distributer and it hit my starter cable and sparked. I then noticed I did not have any fuel coming out of the throttle body. I went and exchanged my eec and no help. Does the distributer send a signal to the eec to tell the injector when to fire? It did blow my fuse to my eec before I exchanged it. I think I may have damaged my distributer if it works this way. I could not find anything on the net except on guy who had a different truck with same 700tbi carb mentioned a signal must come from the distributer to have it work. I get spark to my spark plugs but don't know if it is a seperate circuit that runs the injector. Any help would be appreciated. First time using the site and if it works out I will donate because my hobby is working on old cars thanks

I have the same year S-10 but mine only has 69,700
miles on it. It's my opinion try checking the modules under the distributer there should two of them. There if the hall effect module and one other one located just under the cap on the rear side towards the drivers side.? How is the timing, if I remember correctly this year S-10 has electronic timing (spark and ignition) that maybe part of the problem. Hope this may help a little. I also hope I was on the right subject. These are just my opinion and could be a starting point.
