1988 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

how do I install a new ignition switch? The old one is getting hard to turn. If I need to start by pulling the steering wheel do need a special puller?

It has a lot of miles, dont laff but around 300,000. A motor and trany rebuild its served me very well so. Is it probably needs a new tumbler and the switch as well. Since I have had the truck the backwards acc key position was never there like its a block or something there. Thanks for any advice or help.

That is a lot of miles, but I'm not too far behind. AS long as it keeps running, I would rather put a few dollars into to fixing it rather than a car payment.

As far as your question, yes the steering wheel has to come off to access the tumbler. You will need a standard puller to remove it. There is one bolt that holds it on. If you don't have a puller, most parts stores will lend or rent them to you.

Good luck and let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
