What is the easiest way to turn the shaft that enters the bell housing? I've just fixed the clutch and am having trouble getting the transmission and transfer case to slide in place.

Is there a diference between the transmission shaft and the pilot bearing? Did you use a clutch allignment tool to make sure the clutch is in the right position? Even though it may look as if the clutch is straight it could be off even a little and prevent the shaft from going in the pilot bearing. If the end of the shaft is bigger than the center of the pilot bearing it will not go in and You should be able to a diferent pilot bearing for the correct input shaft of the transmission.
