My 2001 1500 4x4 chevy suburban with 76000 miles recently is experiencing problem with transmission. Under hard acceleration the trans shifts from 1st to 2nd ok 2n to 3rd won't shift, engine keeps revving. After releasing the throttle the trans shifts and there is a slight grinding/rattle noise under the vehicle. With moderate acceleration no problems.

Sounds like you need to try to flush the tranny and change the filter. They lock like that when the filters cloged. The rattle could be anything at that speed. If that doesn't help it it still is good enough to be refurbished.
