Oil in my exhaust and smoke

I have a 1995 chevy astro a couple of month ago I thought I had a oil leak and I kept adding oil turns out the dip stick was the wrong one I ended up draining 15 qts of oil from the engine now the car smokes and theres oil coming out the exhaust? Why is there oil in the exhaust and did I damage my motor

All of that oil may have damaged a piston, or you could have a cracked ring. Oil could also be getting past you valve seals and into the cylinder, but you probably would have noticed the smoking before the overfill, if this was the culprit. It would have been smoking a little at start-up and cleared. I'm worried that your catalyctic converter may have became seriously clogged if you had volumes of oil coming out of the motor. This will cause poor performance and worst case scenerio, could cause the vechicle(cat conv. And floorboards) to catch fire! You might want to have it checked out.
