Have a 98 Blazer, 4 door, 109k miles. The left rear turn signal and brake light stopped working (taillight works fine). Replaced bulbs, flasher and fuse, but fuse keeps blowing. Unplugged harness to left rear lights and fuse still blows. Can you suggest a starting place to look for apparent short?

The actual bulb socket itself. Parts stores carry these. They get moisture in them, they rust, they cause the short. If the bottom of your bulb socket looks a little rusty, splice it out with a new one. Otherwise looking for a short along the line can take a while to find.
Let us know what happens.

Try replacing your turn signal switch inside the steering column. Good luck.
