Does anyone know how to test a anti-lock speed sensor.
I have a 98 chevy astro rear wheel drive and my speed sensor is located toward the end of my transmission on the passenger side. I have checked the plug and it looks ok.
Thanks

Should be ok as long as the ABS light on the dash cluster is not illuminated.

My Light is on.
When I start up my van the light comes on and then off. As long as the van isn't moving the light won't come on. As soon as I start moving the light comes on and stays on until I shut off engine and start back. Then back on when I move again. I Don't know if the sensor is working or not. It seems that it is. I was told that it is a magnetic device that picks up as the transmission is turning. If that is so I think it is working. But I would like to know how to test it to be sure. I priced this sensor and it is $60.
Thanks for the reply

This is a potentiometer and it has three wires:
-the first wire is called the voltage reference wire and it should be 5 volts which is supplied by the computer.
- the second wire is the ground wire and it should be almost 0 volt ( ground voltage)
between the voltage reference and the gound wire is the resistor, it should be between 0 and 5 vots depending on the point tested.
This voltages vary because each coil is an electrical load with the next coil.
