have a 1990 chev van 20 series charging system problem. I triedtwo alternaors in another vechicle. Volts were 14.35. When I put the same altrnators in my van they only put out 12.35. They are actually stealing power fom the battery have checked all connections and they are fine. Why won't my van charge?

On a system with an alternator the BATTERY has to be in good shape for the alternator to charge. You can take your battery to an auto parts store and they can check this for you. You must put the battery on a charger first before doing this. If you have a small charger leave it on for about 5 hours then take it to the store and have them check it. They will be able to tell you right away if it's good or not.
