I have a 1997 C1500. Sometime ago, the speedometer and the odometer started to work intermittently. When they wouldn't work, it took more effort to accelerate. Eventually, they stopped working altogether, and eventually, the transmission went out on me.

We replaced the transmission, and the speedometer and odometer worked perfectly. However, after about a month or so, now they're starting to work intermittently, and now i'm having some difficulty with accelerating. What could be the reason for this?

Your speed sensor in the transmission may be giveing you an intermittent problem. Or one of the gears may be screwed up. But as it worked when you put the trans in, check your wires for not being connected well or pinched. Also check for a bad connection on the trans where the speed sensor hooks up. If your srvice engine light flickers or has a dull glow then this is an intermittent problem and not actually setting a code.
