My son's c10 had the distributor taken out and now we can not get it to lay flush, Is there a trick to get it in properly and how do I get it back into time.

Use a long screwdrive to line up teh oil pump with teh bottom of the distributor. The distributor rotor should point at about 11:30 on a clock. It wil point to the #1 cylinder, lh side of engine. If it still won't go down then just hold the distributor and bump it to make it drop down. Then time it at about 8 degreees btdc.
