1982 Other Chevrolet Models spark plugs were put in wrong

All Chevy V8s are created equal, firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, what I would do is disconnect the coil, take out #1 sparkplug cover sparkplug hole with your finger, have helper tap the key till compression is felt with your finger, remove cap and see where the rotor is pointing, it should be near or at #1 terminal, if not remove dist and reinstall with rotor pointing at#1, You may have to hold the dist and tap the key till dist falls into oilpump, afterward setup wires per the diagram you have, set your timing, and you should be good to go.
