Noises problem
2001 Chevy Monte Carlo 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a load roaring from front of car while driving. Could this be a bad hub asembly & how much play will be in wheel when up off ground & shaken?

To be honest there might not be any play. The load of the car can make it sound like that but when it is jacked up, the noise wont be there. It most likely is a wheel bearing but I would also suggest checking your tires and see if they are cupped. Rub your hand back and fourth on the tires, one way it may seem smooth and the other way it will be raised and catch your hand.
