Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Chevy Monte Carlo 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 90.000 miles

I, ve had the car 2 years, normaly
during the cold months the engine light
will come on giving me a P1404 code
Pintl stuck open on EGR due to carbon
build up. If I restart the car the 3rd time
the light will go out eveytime. The thing
is now the light comes on even when its hot
out and will go out after the 3rd time I restart
it. The car runs fine, so do I need to replace
the EGR valve? Jim

You should replace the egr if you know its causing a problem. The emissions control system can cause alot of headaches if not in good working order. If you know its the cause. Save yourself some headaches in the future and replace it as soon as you can. You might also want to try cleaning it out really good before you go spending money. :)
