1999 Chevy Monte Carlo replacement

I am replacing the trans. And I have most of it complete but im stuck.I dont know the best way to drop the subframe to remove it. Would I need to detach it at the lower ball joint and control arms?I would appreciate a solutuion. The motor is a 3.1 liter
