My 99 monte carlo has had heating problems since I got it a year ago. The temperature guage only reaches 130 degrees or so when the engine is warmed up. At this point, I only get slightly warm air, but not enough to keep warm on a cold day. I have replaced the thermostat two times because I thought the first was faulty, but I cant imagine getting 2 faulty thermostats, so there must be some other problem. No codes to read, and coolant levels are ok. Please help.

Have both new t-stats only heated to 130 degrees? If so, make sure you have the correct one in (190 degree). If you do, have the coolant temp tested with a thermometer to make sure it's actually only 130 degrees. If it is, the only thing that can cause it to warm up beyond that is if the t-stat stays closed longer. If the water is getting up to a normal temp, replace the temp sending unit. It must be sending a faulty signal to the gauge.

Let me know what you find.
