Took it into a chain mechanic store and the quoted $1000, say both front and back pads and rotors need replaced and the brake lines are leaking and need replaced. I need to know how much is a good price to pay and if it would be possible to be done in my drive way with no special equipment.

I dont think $1k is a good price. The rotors cost around $50 a piece and brakes $100 for 4. Brake lines are cheap. You could do it yourself especially the rotors and pads. The brake lines would require a couple tools for bending etc. Maybe do the pads and rotors then bring it in for the brake lines. They are something you definately dont want to mess up. Good luck.
