2006 Chevy Malibu Check Engine Light

The check engine light came on, and I had the car checked to see why. The computer said, "Voltage signal from fuel level sensor is intermittent." I am wondering what exactly that means and how much it will cost me to fix it, or if I even need to fix it. Thank you.

Does fuel gague work? Car run good then you could ignore
