2002 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Automatic 11600 miles

My car used to get good gas mileage. As of lately the fuel economy of my car has gotten really bad. I used to get about 25-28 miles per gallon. Now I get about 15-18 miles per gallon. I have recently changed the oil, air filter, got a fuel system cleaning, and my tire pressure is always good. Right after I did these things the fuel economy got better, but then it went back to being really bad. Is a simple tune up of changing the spark plugs and wires fix it, or is there something seriously wrong with my car?

What engine do you have? Is there a check engine light on?

I have a V6 engine (if that is what you wanted) and the check engine light is not on.

Is it hard starting at all? Check your fuel pressure regulator and see if it is leaking fuel. It is located on top of the engine by your throttle body. Pull the vacuum hose off and see if it is damp with fuel. Also check for any vacuum leaks on the engine, such as any hoses that may have broke off or fell off.

It is not having a hard time starting. As far as I can tell there are no leaks. I will check and see if the vacuum hose is damp of not ( I don't think it is though). All other hoses seem to be ok.
