It may be the useless anti-theft system at work, it cuts off the fuel pump. To reset it, you need to do the following:

Turn the key to the "ON" position, all the warning lights will come on. You want to see the flashing "theft system" light. If this is happening you are in good shape. Wait for ten minutes, the light will turn solid and then go away. Now turn the key back to "OFF" and start the car. The dealer changed my starter coil 3 times before I looked for an alternative solution. Good luck with your "Bu".

2003 malibu 32,000 mi just had new fuel pump installed and mechanic said it might still have intermittent starting. He had it for a week and checked everything. Brought it home, amd later it took 3 tries to start -it. Started after I turned to acccesories position first. Annoyig, I don't know when it will decide to start of not.
