2001 Chevy Malibu Engine mising umder light load

I notice this spark knock/ mising/surging under a light load climbing an incline or highway cruising between 65-75 with or without cruise on. I've checked a few things but looking for some outside input.

So I think I'm onto something now. When the car is idling fuel pressure is at 50 psi and drops to around 45 under a 2000 rpm load. I can't find the specs anywhere but I think it should be around 60. Any helpful info welcome. I checked the fuel pressure regulator its not leaking vacuum or fuel. The chargeing system is putting out good voltage so i'm thinking fuel pump but want to be sure. It costs $245.
