1998 Chevy Malibu Rearview Mirror Repair

How do I fix a rearview mirror that has popped off the window taking part of the windshield with it.

If you can see that the glass is broken where the mirror plate was glued on then you need a new windshield unless a glass company knows of some trick to add glass to the broken spot which I've never heard of.
