1998 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i just put in a new battery and a newa alternator in my car. TWICE, my battery light has been on this whole time. When I put in the new equipment I started the car, left it running, the battery light once again came back on and I left it run the lights eventually started to flicker then went out. Then the engine died. Any help?

Could be the computer field generation control or the body function controller.
