1998 Chevy Malibu CAr start but won't stay running

1998 Chevy Malibu starts but cuts out and won't stay running unless the throttle is in the wide open position and then it wont stay running but for a couple seconds. Could it be the fuel regulator. If so what is the easiest way to service this problem. And what is the easiest test for it?

Check the fuel pressure and also the idle air control valve/throttle position sensor and EGR system.
