1997 Chevy Malibu Car Wont start

Some time ago (within the past 3 months) my car had some trouble starting. I had to turn the key a few time before it would engage, I put a new ingition switch in it but still nothing, the lock had some troulble going to the off position, then it would also stay in the start position. Now I cant get it to start at all, I can get power but when I turn it to start, nothing.

Have u checked the starter yet

do u have the security light on and blinking
if so leave key in ignition in on position for about 2o min

Yes it was the starter, ive never seen a starter do that. Every symtom of a bad ingnition switch, but on a whim I took the starter in and had it tested, because I was told it was the only thing they could teat, and it didn't even budge, oh well learned a good lesson though, thank you
