Noises problem
1998 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Automatic 134000 miles
I just bought this 1998 chevrolet lumina about a month ago. It has 134000 miles, and runs good. However I changed the oil and put high milleage oil and filter along with 1 qrt. Of lucas oil. Ever since I changed the oil, the motor has a ticking noise when first started. It seems to quiet down after running for a minute. Im about to go on an 8 hour trip next month and was wondering what to do to get it fixed or if it would possibly be alright to take it. Because it is bigger than my other car.

What type of oil did you use? In a car with a ton of mileage, you should be using 10w grade. The clicking noise is simple, the oil is settling at the bottom of the pan due to the amount of lubrication the lucas oil is causing. Oil should stick "a certain amount" to everything. When it does, no clicking. When it is settled to the bottom, it clicks untill the oil is stirred up enough to coat everything. Its nothing to really worry about.
Laymens terms ofcourse.
