1998 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic n/a miles

I have a 1998 Chevy Lumina. I bouhgt it used from and individual. It Started just fine. Then after about a month It would take three or four times trying to start it for it to start it wouldn't do this every time. Now having the vehicle for 7 months and installing a shut off switch so I dont have to keep buying batteries. Well the question do you think that there is some security sensor sending messages to the computer to make it not start?

Hi:
Yes there us a security system that could give you trouble. Dose your ignition key have a transistor located on it? If so, I would suggest that you take the car to a nationally recognized auto parts stores, and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. Most of them will scan it for free. If they find any codes, let me know what they are.

I will tell you that if it deals with the security system, you will need to take it to the dealer for reprograming.

Let me know what you find, or if you have any other questions.

Joe
