Engine Performance problem
1997 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140K miles

Looking to get instructions on how to replace Spark Plugs on Lumina 1997 as getting Service Engine Light from ODB II diagnosis. Understand it can be several issues from 02 sensor, coil pack, cable or injector, but want to start with basics as will be too expensive for me to take to a mechanic.

Thanks for pictures and details of possible

If you never changed the spark plugs then it's a good idea to do it. Buy them then check the gap before you install them. You need a spark plug wrench with a rachet to remove them. Do it while teh engine is cold to prevent stripping the threads on the cyl head. But also check your wires for firing as they can be bad as well you'll need insulated plieirs for that. Also get a can of choke cleaner and spray around the intake to see if you have a vacuum leak. If you do the engine rpm will change.

If you can't access the back plugs you can relieve the torque strut at the frame and tilt the motor forward while supporting with a floor jack.
