1995 Chevy Lumina Dashboard lights come on then go off

When you turn the vehicle headlights on the dashboard light come on for a few seconds then go off. Sometimes they come back on when driving but goes back out

Do you tail lights not work as well? when this occurs turn on your headlights and check to see if the tail lights are on or not.. if not, refer to this question ( https://www.2carpros.com/forum/1996-chevy-lumina-no-dash-or-tail-lights-vt103581.html ). Ive also heard of a bad turn signal switch doing this too.
