My 1992 3.1 has an engine miss and rattle coming from unerneath the car. It was running fine when one day I started it up and it had a miss. There is a rattle coming from underneath since I bought it. It has slowly gotten worse. I changed plugs and wire, with no difference. It seems like the exhaust has gotten louder since the miss in the engine. If it is the cat, how can I tell for sure? No check engine light on. Any clue? Thanks!

Someone needs to look the exhaust system over carefully. The ceramic substrate material inside the cat can break and rattle when you shake it, in which case you need a new cat. But it sounds like you have a hole or maybe a loose connection somewhere, which could cause a rattle.
