2004 chevy impala. Stereo turns on, all of the buttons work and the digital stations, bass, trebel and all other functions seem to work but cannot get any sound out of the speakers at all. Not even static or crackeling noises. Is there a fuse for the speakers alone or is it the stereo. It is a cassette stereo and the cassette player does not work either.

If you have the premium system (with a cassette, I don't think you do), then you'll have and external amplifier that powers your speakers.

The amp has it's own fuse circuit and that would make it possible for you radio to function but not put out any sound.

However, since I doubt you have an external amp, combined with the fact another part of you radio doesn't work (cassette), I'd think that your radio was bad.

Sometimes the small computer chip inside the radio will fail, or the circuit board will have a defect that allows a resistor or transistor to work loose.

If you can gain access to the back of your radio, make sure the wires that have fuses on them are good (the fuses), and that the connector is properly inserted in the radio. If all of this checks out, then you'll probably have to replace it.
