2004 Chevy Impala defroster

the defroster for the front windshield is not working properly. it takes for ever to get it going, up to 15 plus minutes. the real heat does not kick in either, what should i check for?

first make sure you coolant level is full. if it is i would replace the thermostat, that should take care of your problem. feedback greatly appreciated!!
