2003 Chevy Impala Engine noise / overheating

2003 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Automatic 97000 miles

My Impala is making a 'tic toc' noise in the engine for about a month now. After I drive around the city for a while, when I step on the gas, lets say after I make a stop, there is this loud rattling noise in the engine, and the only way to get rid of that noise is to let go of the gas peddal. Also my engine has been overheating.

Check your coolant level and oil, then verify that the radiator fan and if there is another fan for the a/c/ check if they both come on. The noise your hearing may be a faulty water pump, (hopefully its just the water pump)
