I recently took my car to the dealer who said I needed a new starter. The starter was $268 (w/$30 credit for return of core) and the labor was $264. Is the labor cost out of line?

There was a slight hesitation on starting and cranking of motor; could this have not been a starter replacement?

Thanks.

Hi:
The cost of the starter is about right. However, labor is high unless they charge 200 dollars an hour.

Labor for 3.4L engine is 1.1 hours.

Labor for 3.8L engine is 1.3 hours.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe
