2001 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 105000 miles
I have a 2001 Chevy Impala with a transmission problem that cause my check engine light to stay on. I had the code 742 and 1811. I took it to every transmission shop in town and they stated that it needed to be rebuilt because it was slipping. Ok I decided to get it rebuilt and the next day after I got my car back the check engine light came back on after driving the car for a while and my car was doing the same thing it was doing before jerking. Come to find out the 742 code came up again. I talk to the transmission repair shop they stated that they put in a new torque converter, rebuilt the valve body, and replace the tcc solenoid. Don’t forget I just got the transmission overhaul. I took the car back and they stated that it might be a bad solenoid or a little trash may have got on the solenoid and they going to replace it. So if they replace the solenoid and the check engine light come back on with the same code 742 what should I do from there?
Think your problem is with Transmission Fluid Pressure manual valve position switch. Mounted on valve body if it does not release pressure to TCC code P0742 sets TFP very delicate must handle carefully.

So should I replace Transmission Fluid Pressure manual valve position switch. When I got my transmission overhaul he stated he rebuilt the valve body. So should he have replace it when he rebuilt the valve body?

Need to ask if that came with valve body or they swaped it over.
