Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

hi, I have a 2000 chevy impala 3.8L v6. My question is, how can I change the valve cover gaskets. What parts do I have to take out in order to take out the valve cover, specialy the one in the back.

Ok there is no easy way to do this. You need to remove the spark plug wires and the any brackets that are in the way. You may have to remove the strut type engine mount if equiped. The engine lift brackets emission hoses. You have to loosen the alternator and power steeing pump brackets if not remove them. The serpentine drive belt too. If you don't have a repair manual I would get one so you can have pics to help. This is not going to be easy as the back side calls for almost 3 hrs to do and the front an 1 1/2 hours to do. If there is anything more I can do let me know.
