2000 Chevy Impala 2000 Impala randomly turns off

Check engine light is on code is po420, while driving car will turn all the way off causing me to lose all brakes and steering. I paid to have the catalyc converter replaced and it still stalls out and usually starts right back up but sometimes it will not until it cools. Please help

Hi:
The converter was under a service bulletin. I believe 2000 to 2002 impala vehicles were covered up to 120K. If your cat was replaced with an aftermarket, that may be the problem. Here is a letter I found regarding a 2001 impella. I recommend contacting a dealer and see if the problem is covered under warranty, (10 year / 120K) as a result of a recall.
