I have a 1964 Chevy Impala with 40000 miles. I have just replaced the Rochester 2 barrel carb with a rebuilt unit. The vehicle runs fine, no issues. The problem is when I shut the vehicle down. As the vehicle cools, gas seeps out of a "plug" on the lower part of the carburetor. This can take up to half an hour to occur after shutting down the vehicle and enough gas drips out to cause a small puddle on the engine. Any suggestions on how to repair or what is causing the problem?

Either the float is to h igh or there is a piece of crap stuck in the needle and seat. To try and correct this reve engine with air cleaner off and apply choke plate to starve the engine. Then let the engine catch up after you releease the choke plate. Do thi s a couple of times. Then let it idle down and shut it off. See if it still does it. Then you may need to lower the float just a tad. Also make sure your car isn't idling to fast as that can do it as well. If that'ts the case you will neeed to put a solenoid to set the idle and then loosen the carb idle screw so it when the power is removed from the solenoid the carb closes further.
