1985 Chevy El Camino 85 el camino 4.3 idle hard in drive

i have a 85 el camino, it idles fine in park but when i put it in drive it idles way different and shakes idles a lot harder?

check for a bad spark plug or low compression. if those are ok, then check to see if you have a camshaft worn out... you'll have to pull the valve covers and look at the valves moving for that..
