While I am in traffic my water temp climbs to 240 wth a/c on, I turn off everything get out of traffic drive and temp goes back down to normal I have checked thermostat, replaced coolant, bled thermo housing, both fans are running with ac on it does not run hot in traffic with a/c off what am I missing. I do have the edelbrock intake with a chip but the computer has been reset for them. The problem started two nights ago I was in bumper to bumper traffic I looked down and temp was 257

Is the A/C blowing cold?Sounds like the A/C condensor may be partially clogged, causing the condensor to get hotter than normal and the fans are pulling the overheated air from the condensor into the radiator, have the A/C performance checked, check for debris between condensor and radiator. Let me know what you find.

Actually the fans won't kick on until 235-240, if A/C is on, fans come on low speed, when temp goes up fans will go on high speed, 221-224 is hot by my standards, but not by GMs standards. What condition is the radiator in? Is it OEM? Make sure you have good circulation.
