1996 Chevy Corsica crossed a wire by accident

I was working on the alternator and the battery cable fell back into place, when this happend there was a spark on the alternator and a puff of smoke from the front end , now it will start but the battery light is on, what happend do you think? Thanks

Hi there,

check charge system fuses and fusible link, if ok have generator tested for a fault.

Thanks for the help mark, I have been playing around and found one burnt wire to the silinoid, replaced it and the battery charges, but the utilites still will not work, I am having a little trouble finding the fuseable link.
