When I apply the brakes its feels like the back tires lock up and the front don't. The car comes to kinda a skidding stop and the back end raises up a little when you hit the brake. Is it possible the front brakes just aren't working or is there other options I need to look at?

I'm not sure I just bought the car. I'm just starting to try and rule out things its not so I can fix it. My thought is that the master cyclinder is going out.

It could be the master cylinder, then it could be the calipers or the shoes. You really cant tell unless you take a look at it
